Legendary WV coach Wayne Jamison dies at 87

PARKERSBURG, W. Va. (WTAP)- A legendary coach in West Virginia has passed away.

Wayne Jamison died on Friday. Jamison was a legendary coach at Bridgeport High School.

He coached basketball and was a historic football coach.

in the 1970s, Bridgeport, a Class AA school, won two football state titles in Class AA. It is the only Class AA school to ever win titles in Class AAA.

He then led the team to Class AA titles in the '80s.

His list of accomplishments include inductions into the Bridgeport High School hall of fame and West Virginia coaches hall of fame. He is also acknowledged as one of the top winningest coaches in the Mountain State.

He was 87 years old. His funeral will be on Tuesday at Bridgeport United Methodist Church at 11 a.m.
