He knows success on the basketball court. Now, Warren High School's coach is recognized for his success and his kindness in the classroom.

Blaine Maddox is the Jan Dils Golden Apple winner for the month of May.

He's a jack of all trades. Maddox is the intervention specialist at WHS, plus he teaches PE and coaches the boys basketball team.

WTAP surprised him with the award Thursday afternoon.

Maddox says he's thankful for the recognition, but the chance to help his students grow is the real reward.

“I love having the opportunity to be a good influence on young people and help them become young adults and be productive in our society and help them our along the way,” says Maddox.
