The halls were filled with cheers at Williamstown Elementary, celebrating the winner of September's Jan Dils Golden Apple Award.

Principal Heather Bretthauer was nominated by a Williamstown parent and surprised by WTAP and the Jan Dils Team with the award Monday afternoon.

Parents and students alike say Mrs. Bretthauer is among the best of the best -- always willing to go the extra mile for her students.

Mrs. Bretthauer says that extra mile is an easy trek, thanks to her wonderful staff, students and their parents.

This is the second year Bretthauer has been the principal at Williamstown Elementary.
