Calamity Days

The academic year is only a month old, but Marietta City schools have already lost education time due to weather. The reason, of course, is the flood, which closed school for all of last week.

Superintendent Greg Backus says getting students back to classes, not "calamity days", has been the school system's priority so far.

Backus says spring break would be the first option for make-up days, but that decision might not be made until it's determined what effect winter has on school cancellations.
