A Belpre man faces a March trial for a fatal accident in Washington County.
Jack Wheeler pleaded not guilty Wednesday when he was arraigned before Judge Ed Lane. Wheeler was indicted last Friday for two counts of aggravated vehicular homicide and one count of aggravated vehicular assault.
One of the homicide counts is for the death of the unborn child of Mary Santer of Caldwell, who also died in the October 8 accident on Ohio Route 821.
Another person was injured in the two-vehicle accident. If convicted, Wheeler could get as much as 21 years in prison.
Judge Lane granted Wheeler a personal recognizance bond after Wheeler agreed to surrender his driver's license, and Washington County Jail officials say late Wednesday afternoon Wheeler is free on bond.
