The sisters of Saint Joseph Charitable Fund has approved support for a variety of projects in the Mid-Ohio Valley.
The fund's board of directors awards grants to organizations and projects which address the area's health care needs as well as the needs of children, families and the elderly.
Some of its recently awarded financial grants have paid for improvements to youngsters' recreational needs.
"We've laughingly talked about the number of playgrounds we've been able to fund," says Sr. Marguerite O'Brien, the fund's vice-president. "But it offers children the opportunity to begin an early exercise program that will serve them well as they age and continue to realize the value of exercise."
While most of the projects receiving grants are in Wood and Washington Counties, there also are programs funded in Charleston, Grantsville and Pomeroy.
