Fading Isidore Dumps Rain

The remnants of Tropical Storm Isidore swept across the Midwest with heavy rain Friday after leaving thousands of people without power in swamped communities across the south.

The storm left as much as eight inches of rain in Ohio, Kentucky and Tennessee but largely spared the region's flood-prone mountains. It was expected to break up this weekend over the northeast.

Isidore hit Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula as a hurricane last weekend, killing at least two people. It was blamed for at least two deaths in the United States, in Mississippi and Tennessee, and millions of dollars in damage.
