A community forum is going on right now to discuss a levy Belpre voters will decide on next Tuesday.
It is not additional millage, but instead a continuation of a $4.1 million levy approved by voters five years ago.
It raises $825,000 a year for the school system, but school officials say it has only funded existing operating expenses and they add those expenses continue to grow.
"We all know gasoline and heating costs, insurance costs and all those things have gone up," says Superintendent Harry Fleming. "So our costs have escalated even though our revenues have not, so we have to find some areas to cut back even with the continuation of these same monies."
Fleming also says there are no plans to seek an additional operating levy in the near future.
