The murder trial of Bryan Christopher Sturm has concluded and the 12-year-old boy has been found guilty of murdering his aunt, Emma Tidd, and grandmother, Nancy Tidd.
After three months, the young boy's family is breaking their silence and released this statement to WTAP:
"We feel this was a terrible injustice. We don't feel they investigated every avenue. We are hopeful he will win his appeal and we can prove his innocence."
The 12-year-old's aunt, Denise Ward, also says the family claims one of the prosecution's witnesses lied on the stand.
The 12-year-old boy has two older brothers and one older sister.
Ward says Sturm's parents visit him three times a week and that the family is still very close.
Ward adds his mother, Tammy Sturm, is incredibly distraught over the jury's decision and that she is still mourning the loss of her mother and sister.
