UPDATE: Dog Attack Case Won't Go To Grand Jury

Child Attacked and Killed by Dogs

Funeral Arrangements For Two Year Old

Two Year Old Boy's Death by Mauling Ruled Accidental

Update 9/26/2012 4:25 P.M.

The case involving an attack by two dogs which killed a toddler is not expected to be heard by the Pleasants County Grand Jury.

A two-year old child was killed in mid-june, after being attacked by two mixed breed dogs from a neighbor's yard in Pleasants County.

Prosecutor Carl Bryant says the state medical examiner ruled the child's death was accidental.

Bryant says that, unless more information comes forward in the case, he doesn't plan to present it to a grand jury.

The sheriff's office told us in June it's believed the boy wandered into the neighbor's yard, where the dogs were being kept.

UPDATE: 6/14/2012

Pleasants County authorities continue to investigate a dog attack that has left a 2 year old child dead.

Pleasants Co. deputy Steve McFarland tells WTAP News ... "This is a tragic accident and as a small community we all feel sympathy and compassion for everyone concerned."

the 2-year old son of William and April Redin was killed by two dogs.

The sheriff's office calls the dogs a mixed breed.

They believe the boy wandered off, and walked into the neighbors yard.

Those dogs were behind an invisible electric dog fence, but the boy walked into the yard, and that's where the attack happened.

The sheriff's office believes the boy was gone just minutes between leaving the house ... the attack and when his father found him.

A family representative tells us funeral arrangements are being made Thursday, and will be handled by Kimes Funeral Home in Parkersburg.

As for the investigation, the sheriff's office is waiting for autopsy and veterinary results.

Daniel Sweeney owns the dogs and they were at the home owned by his brother, David.

Deputy McFarland wouldn't say whether there would be charges ... only to say the investigation continues.

Wednesday afternoon, Pleasants County Deputies and State Police responded to a call concerning a child attacked by a neighbor's dog.

Authorities tell us a 2-year old walked over to the neighbor's yard while playing and 2 mixed breed dogs attacked and killed the child.

The child's father found him behind the back side of the neighbor's home.

The victim was mauled to death.

Officials say the dogs have been removed from the home and are under quarantine at a veterinarian clinic pending further legal proceedings.
