Jumping Joey in Jackson County

Vernon and Lois Magee have lived in the quiet Millwood neighborhood for seven years, but recently this couple's back yard has felt more like the outback, all thanks to one curious creature.

Not a kangaroo, but it’s smaller sister the wallaby. For the past two months, it has been crawling through their community grazing on grass and avoiding wildlife enforcement.

Officials with the Division of Natural Resources say that while wallabies are timid creatures, you can't underestimate the fact that they are exotic animals.

Even still, residents say they are always on the lookout for their friend from down under.
