A Marietta man is behind bars accused of stealing nearly three thousand dollars from his neighbors as they sat on their front porch.
Ronald Gilbert is charged with second degree felony burglary and fourth degree felony safe cracking after a safe and around one thousand six hundred dollars were found in his Quarry Street home.
His neighbors, Rebecca and Garry Carver, told police Gilbert sat with them on their front porch Sunday but at one point went inside to use the bathroom.
They believe that's when he took the safe to the rear of the residence where his truck was parked.
Gilbert admitted to stealing the safe which contained over two thousand dollars.
He could not recall what he did with the rest of the money.
Gilbert will appear in court tomorrow at 8 a.m.
