A boy playing with a bow and arrow inside his house, accidentally shoots his father in the back, sending him to the hospital with serious injuries.
It happened around 12:30 Saturday afternoon when officers responded to a house on 16th Street in Parkersburg for an accidential shooting.
Police say a 13 year old boy was practicing pulling his compound bow inside his house. They say the bow, which was loaded with an arrow, accidentally discharged.
It struck the boy's 50 year old father in the middle of his back. The father was flown to Ohio State Medical Center and is in critical condition.
Police say foul play is not suspected and no charges have been filed. They say there's no reason to believe this was anything other than an accident.
No names or futher information is being released at this time, and the accident is still under investigation.
