Probable links are discovered between C8 and two different diseases.
WTAP spoke to people in The Valley about the new findings that C8 has a probable link to thyroid disease and ulcerative colitis, and it seems as the science panel continues to the probable links, the cause of concern for people in the valley continues to grow.
"I think they should pay the people to take care of their problems because they're drinking the water and I think they should quit making whatever is causing it cause it's hurting a lot of people, says Robert McMullen.
Resident, Johnathan Byrd says it's not every day you can buy a sweet tea and sometimes you just need to grab a glass of water from the sink. He says he's even cautious when doing that. "Sometimes you're home, you're thirsty, you need water. It's basic, and you have to have that to make sure you're healthy. I'm shocked and a bit worried now."
Some people in the valley became concerned with the case during the last set of findings. Resident Sharon Stephens says even though cancer wasn't tested this time around, it's still a big concern for her that C8 could cause any type cancer. "I'm a three time cancer survivor of three different cancers so I'm a target, for cancer cells growing. I would certainly hope for something to be done. Its disturbing for sure."
Stephens says she hopes the panel continues to study as many diseases as possible that could be linked to C8. "I hope that they keep digging and studying and researching and finding what the problem is. Hopefully they are getting results and some kind of resolution to it. We certainly don't want anything in our water."
The panel hopes to release their next set of findings by the end of October. Until then, most people say all they can do is wait.
