Man Arrested For Stealing Antiques

Police say a man stole hundreds of antiques from a house and sold some at a local antique dealer.

It all started with a call to Parkersburg Police on Saturday.

A man told officers a window to his mother's property was open, and multiple antique items were missing.

The victim says he saw some of the items in the back of a car, and even called a local antique dealer, who confirmed some of his stolen antiques were sold there.

Police tracked the license plate of the car to Gerald Piggott.

Piggott originally said he didn't steal the antiques, but that he found them in a dumpster. Police continued their investigation and found enough evidence to arrest him with the crimes. He's charged with felony breaking and entering.

Police say they can't place a dollar amount on the stolen antiques at this time because of the nature of the items. Some of those include a walnut grandfather clock, a porcelain sink with a brass faucet, and almost 600 antique comic books.

Police add, they're not ruling out the possibility of charging more suspects with the thefts.
