"211" Coming to Washington County

By  |

One phone call to reach more than 100 different services, thanks to a 211 grant coming to a phone near you.

2-1-1 is a number you can call if it isn't an emergency but you need tourist information, recommendations for a doctor, or maybe your pipes burst.

A special 211 committee has been working for a while now to get everything together.

Money was an issue and now United Way is announcing a grant over $53,000 from Ohio United Way and Caresource Foundation to get it up and running.

Now they will start collecting health services information for the database

"All the agencies that do humane services will get a form that they have to fill out that tells what services that they offer, to what people and what the requirements are," says Karen Binkley, with the United Way of Washington County.

They have hired Stark County call center, located outside of Washington County.

That's where trained information and referral specialists will be answering all your questions.

It's not ready, so don't call 211 yet.

It will be up and running by early to middle spring.
