It's a milestone for REM Community Options, as they celebrated the grand opening of their new Open Hands Learning Center.
Jason Lynch, regional director says their hope is to have a common place where people with disabilities and without can learn different recreational activities, art projects and community service.
"We’ve been working about two years. Lots of support from the business people here in Parkersburg and by doing that we've been able to open up lots of opportunities for the people we serve,” Lynch says.
He adds that they're really excited to press the boundary and help people with disabilities here at home.
The center will serve those from Wood, Pleasants and Jackson County.
