The accident happened at the Lang farm on Langsfarm Road and State Route 676 Tuesday night.
Sheriff Larry Mincks says 26-year-old Timothy Lang was working on a tractor, when his coat sleeve got caught and the machinery severed his arm.
The Washington County mas was flown to Riverside Medical Center in Columbus.
Mincks says, "Farming accidents in the area are fairly common. We have a lot of tractor accidents where people will be involved on a hillside and the tractor will flip over."
Lang is listed in fair condition this afternoon.
Mincks cautions farmers to make sure you don't wear loose clothing when working with equipment, and make sure you're trained on all machinery you use.
