Circuit City stores incorporated has become the first national retailer to begin phasing out sales of VHS movies.

The company says that's because people who buy movies now are interested in DVD’s.

Some Circuit City stores have already cleared their shelves of all VHS movies.

A spokesman says the company will continue to sell VHS movies on its Web site, and stock blank tapes and video cassette recorders in its more than 600 stores.

Circuit City has at least four stores in West Virginia, one is here in Parkersburg.
