Kids Celebrate Veterans Day

Many kids are looking forward to Tuesday because there's no school, but Monday was an even bigger day because they celebrated the reason for the day off.

A sea of red, white and blue filled the gymnasium of Lubeck Elementary as kids cheered for local veterans.

"It's an honor to be here. I consider it a privilege to be a veteran," Roy McCase, a U.S. Air Force Retiree, said.

McCase enjoys the glory that comes with serving the country, but said that's not what it's all about.

"I think it's extremely important that they understand their history and the makeup of our armed forces," he said.

Something McCase has taught his granddaughter Mara.

"It's the army, the navy, the marines, the air force and the coast guard," Mara said.

So after days of practice, the entire school is celebrating a nation and the people who fought for it.

The students at Criss Elementary are doing the same.

"They've learned a great deal. They have learned how important it is to serve our country," Mary Vincent, Principal of Criss Elementary, said.

A country where kids can be free because of the sacrifices of veterans.

Saint Marys Elementary also had its annual lunch with veterans Monday.
