A Walk Through the Past

Many kids in the area didn't have to go to school today, but for students in Marietta, it was a regular day of classes, but one school took their lesson outdoors.

The Marietta chapter of Sons' of the American Revolution took students for a stroll through Mound Cemetery.

They stopped at the graves of veterans to tell stories and to honor those who fought for their country.

The group of men say it's their way of teaching the youth about the area they live in and the people who helped make it what it is today.

"This will be a different type of lesson for them. Instead of just being there in the classroom, they'll get to see us in uniform. They'll get to hear some of the stories about the people who founded this town, and the people who made Marietta what it is today," Scott Britton with the Sons of the American Revolution said.
