Law enforcement agency workers put their lives on the line every day.
Wednesday, a deputy from Washington County was honored for risking his life back in April.
Deputy Scott Parks received a medal of honor at the Buckeye State Sheriff's Association Awards Ceremony.
It was a way to recognize Parks for his heroic actions when responding to a domestic violence call where he was shot in the head.
Even after being severely wounded, Parks continued to work with his department to take care of the situation.
Parks says his real reward was all the help he received that night from EMS and his co-workers.
