The Monday of the week before Christmas is known as the busiest mailing day of the year.
The Simmons Station in Parkersburg had long lines throughout the day.
Customer Service Manager Lyle Sims said that in order to handle the extra packages and Christmas cards, workers come in earlier, take shorter lunches, and the mail is picked up more than on a regular business day.
Sims also said that because of the economy, they're seeing much less mail this holiday season.
"They're not as bad this year, simply because the economy is down, and actually mailing letters and packages are down from previous years, so it's not as bad, but it's still very busy," Sims said.
And since Monday was the busiest mailing day of the year, that means Tuesday is set to be the busiest delivery day of the year.
