Today marks the anniversary of the country's worst mining disaster in five years
On this day in 2006, an explosion at Sago Mine in Tallmansville, West Virginia trapped 13 miners for nearly two days.
Only one miner survived.
Survivor Randal McCloy said fumes and smoke overtook his co-workers, and at least four of the emergency oxygen packs did not work correctly.
The accident once again brought mine safety to the forefront.
