Washington County sheriff's detectives say Francis Chutes died from cancer just a week after the burglary.
The stolen items include two handguns, some knives and a $10,000 coin collection.
"It just makes you sick to think someone would do this. This man saved this coin collection basically his entire life. In speaking with one of his daughters, she told me that was his hobby, that's what he loved to do," Detective Brian Rhodes, a detective with the Washington County Sheriff's Office, said.
The collection will be returned to the family as all the coins are recovered.
