Early voting for Saturday's Wood County schools excess levy election is over, and it appears to be a success. The early process began two years ago, as a means of encouraging registered voters in West Virginia to head to the polls.
Wood County's clerk believes one reason for the steady turnout, is because the election falls on a weekend.
"Some people are coming in for the convenience; some people are going to be out of town this weekend. Various people are exercising their right to vote, and it's working out well," says Jamie Six.
Six isn't sure, however, what the turnout will be for Election Day itself.
Polls for the vote open at 6:30 Saturday morning, and close at 7:30 in the evening.
