The March of Dimes is kicking off its March for Babies campaign, and is working to get folks in the Mid-Ohio Valley involved.
A meeting was conducted Wednesday for anyone wanting to help promote the health of infants.
Supporters came together to discuss ways to raise money to help moms have safe pregnancies and healthy babies.
Officials say their main focus is to try to decrease the number of premature births.
"As the economy gets tough, those numbers go up because people can't afford the proper health care, they can't afford their vitamins, they can't afford the things they need to have a healthy, happy pregnancy," Sandy Vredingburgh, community director, said.
March for Dimes has planned a walk for the campaign. It will take place at the Parkersburg City Park, May 2.
