Caldwell Police Chief Loses Job

Brian Langley, Caldwell's police chief since the early 1990's, is being removed from that post.

Caldwell Mayor Lowell Anderson confirmed to WTAP News today that Langley, who was arrested last month for driving while intoxicated in Guernsey County, will be terminated as of the close of business Friday.

Anderson added, however, that under local and Ohio law, Langley will have 10 days to appeal the mayor's decision to the Village Council.

Langley was placed on medical leave in December, although village leaders and council members have declined to say why.

Anderson said he told Langley of his decision during a meeting with the police chief Thursday morning. The mayor said Langley chose during that meeting not to resign.

Langley faces trial on the OVI charge in Cambridge Municipal Court later this year.
