Update: Garage Destroyed by Fire

Update: Three Washington County fire departments were busy Friday morning responding to a fire in Barlow.

The fire broke out around 9 o'clock Friday morning at the garage of a home on the 4-hundred block of Knob Drive.

Dunham, Little Hocking, and Barlow fire companies responded to the blaze. Chief Ernie Hoschar of the Dunham Fire Department says: "It's a joint effort between all the neighborhood departments. We have five, six or eight people show up. Barlow has five, six or eight people show up. Same with Little Hocking. You get enough guys and it's the initial attack that kills."

Washington County Sheriff Larry Mincks said crews were concerned about the fire spreading to the woods. Crews were able to contain the blaze to the garage and stop it from spreading to the house and the woods.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
