Parkersburg's newest bank branch officially opened its doors to the public Monday morning.
BB&T demolished its 50-year-old branch office at Eighth and Avery Streets late last year, and just completed construction of a new, modern building on the same site.
During the year-long transition, the bank moved its branch to a temporary location a block away.
“There was no problem there, people understood the need to be there temporarily. They were ready to move back here, and we've been very busy Monday,” explains City Executive Charles Casto.
In spite of weather delays, the new branch was completed exactly a year after plans for its construction were announced.
It's the same size as the old building, 13,000 square-feet, but Casto says there's better utilization of space.
