Wood County's Board of Education may vote soon on selling a vacant school building.

Prosecutor Ginny Conley approached the Board of Education Tuesday night, with a proposal to sell rayon elementary school to the violent crimes and narcotics task force.

Earlier this year, Parkersburg police discussed with school officials using rayon for a training facility for both the police and fire departments.

Conley says that's evolved into a facility for all county law enforcement and fire agencies, which are represented by the drug task force.

The prosecutor has proposed the building be purchased for a nominal fee, but the school superintendent says the purchase price isn't a roadblock to its sale.
