A mother and daughter from our area had a front-row seat to last week's blackout in the Big Apple.
Betty Prince, her daughter Megan, and a foreign exchange student from Belgium were all in New York last Thursday afternoon when the power went out.
They ended up spending the night on the sidewalk near their Manhattan Hotel, and they had plenty of company.
“There weren't any lines between people who had nice hotels and people who didn't. We were all out in the streets, killing time,” says Megan Prince.
Once the power came back on, the princes were able to resume their sightseeing, visiting sites such as the statue of liberty.
Megan is 17 years old, graduated this year from Marietta High School, and plans to attend Ohio State University in the fall.
