UPDATE: May 11, 2009 at 5:33 p.m.

There are several new developments in the investigation of the suspected murder of a Meigs County man over the weekend.

Officials with the Ohio Attorney General's Office say the body of 65-year-old Winfield Hardiman was found Saturday morning at his home on Darst Road in Albany, Ohio.

Officials said Monday that an autopsy has been performed by the Montgomery County Coroner's Office.

That office and the Meigs County Coroner have determined that Mr. Hardiman's death was, in fact, a homicide and the result of blunt force trauma.

No further information is available at this point.

Investigators say an acquaintance found the body.

Detectives are asking anyone who is familiar with the man and his routines to contact the Meigs County Sheriff's Office at (740) 992-3371.

A Meigs County man was found dead outside his home Saturday morning and now investigators want your help in finding out any information about the suspected murder.

Ohio Attorney General Richard Cordray's Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation office said the body of Winfield Hardiman was found by an acquaintance outside his home on Darst Road in Albany Saturday morning.

According to a press release the person was unable to reach Hardiman for some 24 hours and went to check on the 65-year-old.

Investigators said Hardiman appears to have been attacked but his exact cause of death is not being released.

Neighbors tell WTAP they didn't know much about Hardiman and he was a man who kept to himself.

Officers ask that if you are familiar with Hardiman and his routines or if you noticed any suspicious activity in the area call the Meigs County Sheriff's office at (740) 992-3371.
