Parkersburg Native Among 3 Republicans To File Documents To Challenge Mollohan

Morgantown, WV (AP) -- Democratic Congressman Alan Mollohan is attracting a group of would-be GOP challengers.

Republicans Randy Scott Smith, Daniel Scott Swisher and Cindy Hall have filed pre-candidacy papers with the Secretary of State's Office to run against Mollohan for West Virginia's First Congressional District seat.

Smith is from Terra Alta and Hall is a resident of Wheeling.

Swisher lives in Burlington, Conn., but the Parkersburg native says he plans to move back to West Virginia.

Mollohan is a 14-term congressman and ran unopposed in 2008.

He handily defeated his last republican challenger, Chris Wakim in 2006.
