Many folks spent Memorial Day remembering those who gave their lives for our country.
The holiday activities got off to an early start Monday morning in Marietta.
A few early-risers came out for a parade that took off at 8 a.m.
It began at Harmar Elementary and then wove through Harmar Village.
A couple of hours later, the streets of Marietta were busy with another parade.
This one started at Muskingum Park and marched through downtown.
Hundreds came out to watch the parade and pay their respects; especially to the veterans.
"We don't really appreciate how much they've done for our country, and they should be honored, and we like to come out and pay our respects and just enjoy the parade, and the day and the people," Fred Rodgers, who watched the parade, said.
Both parades ended at historic cemeteries with services honoring those who sacrificed it all for their country.
