Ohio's First Lady, Frances Strickland, was in the area Thursday for the state's continuing effort to get the community more involved with education.
The first lady met with Family and Children First representatives from each of the district's counties.
The purpose of the meeting was to discuss ways to get parents and other community members more involved in the decision making process.
"Education is for the people. Education is supposed to be owned by the people. So, this is putting it back in their hands, and now is an extremely important time for them to become involved because of the economy," Strickland said.
She also says one of the main goals of this effort is to have education standards and policies that reflect what the people want.
