A New York woman is in serious condition after a morning accident on I-77.

Around 7 a.m. Wednesday, 24-year old Kelly Hadley of Patterson New York was thrown from an SUV after the driver lost control in I-77's northbound lanes between Rockport and Medina, West Virginia.

She was airlifted to ruby memorial hospital in Morgantown.

The driver, 32-year-old Chad Elkins of Virginia Beach, Virginia says he may have fallen asleep, and ran into the median.

There, the SUV rolled four times before coming to rest.

Elkins only suffered minor injuries.

Authorities say Hadley was wearing her seatbelt when she was ejected, but not properly.

The Wood County crash team is continuing to investigate this accident.
