Two area arts organizations have received some much-needed money from the state.
The money comes from West Virginia discretionary funds, and was awarded to the Parkersburg Arts Center, and to the Parkersburg Actors Guild.
The Arts Center gets $100,000 for an expansion into a vacant property next door to its Eighth and Market Street location.
"Part of what we see as income is selling arts and different items that may become available. That's what we were really lacking, and where this space will really help," says Jim Osbourne.
The Actors Guild received $10,000 for fire safety improvements. The guild's season begins Friday night with a performance of "The Odd Couple."
