Charleston, W.Va. (AP) -- West Virginia Gov. Joe Manchin says he's getting fed up with some of the speculation surrounding the health of U.S. Sen. Robert C. Byrd.
The 91-year-old democrat has been in the hospital for more than a month, recovering from an infection.
Much has been made of a recent conference call Manchin had with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid.
Manchin said the Nevada democrat asked about Byrd, but they did not discuss replacing history's longest-serving senator as has been alleged.
The governor called those allegations callous.
Byrd's office told reporters on Monday that he's begun physical therapy and expects to leave the hospital soon.
But information about his condition has been limited.
