Ohio River Boaters Be on Guard

The Coast Guard is asking citizens to be alert for signs of terrorism on the Ohio River.

A Coast Guard spokesperson says the more eyes and ears on the river, the safer it will be.

They have increased staffing on the Ohio River near Cincinnati since the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

Thirty percent of coast guard's inland patrol now involves port security and safety, compared to two percent before the terrorist attacks.

Both sides of the Ohio River are dotted with potential terrorist targets, including bridges, dams, power plants and oil and chemical facilities.
