10 WVa Counties Report Unemployment Decline In May

Charleston, W.Va. (Ap) -- Pocahontas County continues to have the highest unemployment rate in West Virginia, despite a decline of 2.8 percentage points in May.

Figures released Monday by Workforce West Virginia show Pocahontas County's unemployment rate fell from 19 percent in April to 17.2 percent.

Pocahontas County was among 10 counties reporting a drop in unemployment rates in May. The others were Braxton, Greenbrier, Monroe, Pleasants, Tucker, Tyler, Upshur, Webster and Wetzel counties.

Monongalia County's 4.7 percent unemployment rate was the lowest in the state.
