Officials at the Ohio State Highway Patrol say they've applied for a federal over-time grant to allow more officers to be on patrol during the holiday weekend.

Officers say not only does the amount of traffic increase during holidays, but so do the number of drunk driving arrests.

"We want everybody to have a good time. We want everybody to celebrate and go out, but make those arrangements ahead of time; driving arrangements, have a taxi or a friend pick you up or stay where you are," Lieutenant Mary Pfeifer said.

Lieutenant Pfeifer says last year they responded to 12 crashes and had four OVI arrests over the 4th of July weekend.
