A Wood County couple accused of failing to turn in money to a local charity will be sentenced in January.
Christopher Hunt, and his wife, Jackie, entered separate "no contest" pleas to petit larceny charges Wednesday morning in Wood County Circuit Court.
Both were involved with the organization "Battle Against Cystic Fibrosis". His charge involves money raised from a charity football game in June of 2000.
Christopher Hunt: I had an agreement with (Bob) Zide (of Zide's Sport Shop in Marietta) to pay a bill back, and failed to do so.
Judge Jeff Reed: Did you take the money from the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation?
Hunt: No sir, I did not.
Jackie Hunt was accused of not turning over to the BACF organization money raised for a charity basketball game in April of 2002.
“I was responsible for the collecting of the money, and I was negligent in where I placed that money, and I did not properly watch it or make sure it was in a safe place,” said Jackie Hunt.
Sentencing for both Hunts is scheduled for January 21. The plea agreement requires the hunts to pay back the money to the organization.
