A Save-A-Lot food store is expected to open by spring, at the former Ames department store in Marietta's Lafayette Center.
It was announced Monday afternoon that the store will be operated by Ohio Valley supermarkets, which also runs a number of Save-A-Lots in Ripley and in southern Ohio.
It will also be the third store of its kind in the area, with Save-A-Lot stores already in operation in Parkersburg and Belpre.
The owners plan to hire as many as 30 people for the new store.
