Fayette Thompson has been found, not guilty, of causing the death of a passenger in her car more than seven years ago on Interstate 77 in Wood County.
The verdict was delivered by a Wood County circuit court jury 45 minutes after it began deliberations Thursday morning.
Sequetta Henderson, who was pregnant, died when the car Thompson was driving went out of control on an icy road in December 1996.
After the trial, Assistant Prosecutor Sean Francisco said: "Am I disappointed by the verdict? Yes, but, at the same time, I understand how hard these cases are for everyone, so I do understand the verdict."
Thompson, who was from Columbus, was arrested and brought to Wood County last September to stand trial.
