Police Caution Residents of Increase in Burglaries

An increase of burglaries in Marietta has police looking for suspects, and cautioning residents.

Marietta Police say these burglaries have been happening at homes rather than businesses.

Police say it's important for folks to have secure locks on their windows and doors, and to alert neighbors if you're planning to be out of town for a while.

They also say these crimes are occurring during the day.

"Burglaries are an opportunity crime, which the reason they do that is because usually no body's home during the day time. Often times they'll go up and knock on the door, and if nobody answers they'll force their way in," Sgt. Greg Nohe said.

If you become a victim of a burglary, police say it's important to document any stolen items and report them.
