The Wood County Commission is expected to determine next week who will fill an unexpired term on the Lubeck Public Service Board.
The commissioners Thursday morning interviewed candidates for the position recently left vacant by the death of Jim Smith.
They were asked about several issues, mostly regarding controversy over a proposed 64 percent rate hike request, and communication between the board and the public.
"They hold an open meeting once a month, but they aren't well-publicized and agenda-ized like your meetings are," said candidate Stephen Gilbert.
Gilbert said he is opposed to the rate hike.
On another hot issue, the commission is looking at options on restructuring its park boards in the wake of the recent concerns over Mountwood Park.
Consolidating some park boards or disbanding the Mountwood Board altogether are under discussion.
