Kevin Calhoun was introduced Thursday morning as the osteopathic hospital's new chief executive officer. He began his duties on Monday.
Calhoun comes to the area from Michigan, but was born in Huntington and grew up in Dayton, where he headed small hospitals in the Buckeye State.
"I know the difficulty the small hospitals have with financing and keeping up with technology," says Calhoun. "I’m very aware of that, and I’m very successful in how to deal with those situations."
Selby recently received a $3 million gift from a former employee who died last year. Calhoun says there are no immediate plans for using that money, or for a hospital expansion.
"Part of our process the next couple of months is refining our future plans," he says, "who we are, where we want to be, where we're going. Within six months or so, I should be able to better answer that question."
Calhoun replaces Maryann Greenwell, who stepped down last year.
