Officials at the Wood County Juvenile Center are turning to the commission for help in purchasing additional land for the property.
Currently, the facility has a small recreation area, with only enough space to play basketball.
Center director David Jones says he's hoping to enter a long-term lease with the county to acquire the property behind the center.
He says this would allow his staff to develop more outdoor activities and teach the teenagers respect outside of the classroom.
Commissioners will tour the facility next week.
Jones says he'd like to see a security fence around the land in time for summer.
