Crews have officially broken ground on the Armory Square project in downtown Marietta.
Work started Monday to make the Armory's parking lot more accessible for public transportation.
It's an important step because a part of the Armory will be used as a transportation hub.
Mayor Michael Mullen says this portion of the project is expected to take a few months. Then, work can begin on the building itself, which will also be used as a visitor's center, an Appalachian marketplace and a center for community events.
